Rae’s Violet San Antonio Adventures : Positivity in SA

I know the previous episodes have sounded less like adventures and more like miseries. It was always a different struggle, but I want to clarify it wasn’t all doom and gloom! I had a lot of positive experiences and met some great people in between those struggles.

In this episode, I take on a more positive tone and talk about the brighter side of my time in San Antonio. From a journalist meetup to hanging out with new friends, this is it.

Rae’s Violet San Antonio Adventures III: Margaritas Alone

On July 18, I went to one of the spots that’s said to have some of the best margaritas in SATX– La Gloria in the Pearl. I went alone because I had no one to go with me, but I was really determined to get a margarita before I leave here. As I sat there sipping my margarita and the minutes went by, I realized something. I was sick of my solo explorations of this town. It wasn’t fun anymore. I felt let down by all the people (3 in particular) who had recommended these places to me and were now ghosting me or straight up ignoring me to my face. So I decided once I got home, this would be my last solo outing while I’m here.

*Spoiler alert: it wasn’t really my last “solo adventure”*

Rae’s Violet San Antonio Adventures II

I thought I had it all figured out moving here to San Antonio and doing what I love. I did not. The struggle was real without a car because everything is far as all get out walking from here to anywhere. But at least the internship is fun!

No more struggle b**ch hours for me! On June 20, I was finally relieved of my bus, Lyft, and Uber struggle time adventures in San Antonio. My parents drove all the way from Dallas on Father’s Day to bring me my car. I felt a huge load of depression lifted from my shoulders. Stay tuned for updates!

The Wig

I don’t know what it is about this wig, but every time within the past week that I started wearing it, I’ve been getting all kinds of attention. This all happened the middle of November, by the way.

The first day I wore it was on Wednesday, but I was too ashamed to leave my hall after getting lunch because I was worried it would be too obvious and attract too many judging eyes. I retreated to my room and decided to try again on Thursday.

Fall Tapes, Vol. 1: Music Review

by Rae’s Violet

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Dallas rapper Chris Henyard’s EP Fall Tapes, Vol. 1 is good for chilling out and vibing. It dropped December 4, his first EP following his recent album, The IG Collection. Fall Tapes Vol. 1 has mellow, chill lyricism over moody beats that speak to the emotions brought on by a rough year.

I did a track-by-track rundown for what you can expect from this 8 minute EP!
