The Sun is Also a Star Book Review

The Sun is Also a Star, by the talented Nicola Yoon, is a compelling tale of how the universe draws us to each other whether we like it or not.

Well, it’s more so about how the universe drew Natasha Kingsley and Daniel Bae to each other. All in the span of one day. It’s better than it sounds, trust me.

So I discovered this book after seeing Yara Sahidi promoting the movie on GMA a while back. I saw the preview for the movie adaption for the book and thought, I want to see that! But I don’t really go to the movies anymore (don’t ask). What’s the next best thing to watching the movie, then? Reading the book!

I got the book on my device and read i within 2 weeks. It was quite a compelling read, like a compact science lesson! I learned about paradoxes, brain chemicals, astronomy, etc.

But my favorite thing about this novel is how an avowed nonromantic who doesn’t believe in love falls in love with a hopeless romantic. Natasha always had a counter argument to Daniel’s unfaltering beliefs to the power of love. Until, in the final moments of that fated day, she could no longer deny it—love is real!

They try to keep in touch, but eventually lose contact until years and years later when they’re coincidentally reunited on a plane preparing to take flight! It renewed my faith in love…for one day, then something happened that snapped me back to reality.

I think it was an original and quirky love story that left me feeling good for a while. I don’t know if Ill ever find a love as close to theirs, but a girl can dream, I guess.

I give The Sun is Also a Star 4.5/5 stars.
